Black Oak has been involved with Carrolltown Center and the community for 20 years.
The Company first became involved with Carrolltown after acquiring it during the real estate downturn of the 1990s. Soon after, Black Oak established its offices in the center and became fully involved with the community. For instance, Black Oak hosted Carrolltown Elementary performances, blood drives, and Boy and Girl Scouts at the center.
After a great couple of years, Black Oak decided to sell Carrolltown Center in 1999. However, Black Oak kept in contact with the buyers and in 2004 Black Oak reacquired the center with the intent of redeveloping it.
During the initial phase of the redevelopment process, Black Oak encountered several obstacles but the team continued to push the redevelopment efforts forward until they were in a position to submit site plans in the Spring of 2013.
